What is required

The UK has in place measures to limit employee exposure to coolant mist generated in CNC machines during normal operation. These mists are a hazard that that can have serious health risks to operators in the working area. Exposure to oil mist, can lead to respiratory conditions as well as skin rashes and to more serious health issues. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations (COSHH, 2002) require coolant mists generated in CNC machines must be reasonably limited at source. This can be done using oil mist extraction systems, also known as Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems. Furthermore, there is a requirement to keep your LEV unit serviced. The HSE can enforce compliance to the COSHH regulations.

The solution

Leicester Precision Components provide LEV units for your CNC machines. Our efficient and cost-effective Clarion Ventilation System LEVs are designed to extract contaminated air from your CNC machine enclosure, filter out the contaminants, and recirculate mist free clean air back into the workshop environment. This removes the contaminated air from the machine enclosure that protects the operator from exposure, fulfilling your legal requirements.

Our Clarion Ventilation System LEVs are robustly built to function efficiently to remove airborne contaminants from your CNC machine enclosures. The unit can be supplied with a flow rate gauge that indicate the unit is functioning correctly and efficiently.

Contact us for your LEV requirements. LPC will provide efficient and cost competitive solutions for your demanding requirements.

Clarion Ventilation System Model LEVs available

LPC provide 4 models in the Clarion Ventilation systems LEV range. These are designed to cater for CNC machines with a particular enclosure volume. The table shows the range of LEV units and their specifications.

Our Clarion Ventilation units are built to exacting standards backed by our quality and testing procedures as defined by our Quality registration to ISO9001. Each unit is tested on assembly using components designed for quiet vibration free reliable operation in a compact unit. Our LEVs are guaranteed to provide you with trouble free operation over many years and we guarantee our products for 1 year from any defects.

Clarion Ventilation System LEVs come with after HEPA filters, fitted as standard. They are designed to remove fine contaminants down to 0.3µm and return clean air to the workshop environment with 99.97% efficiency.

Operating  principles behind the Clarion Ventilation System LEV

Clarion Ventilation System LEVs are based on centrifugal oil mist separation through high-capacity filters, capturing the coolant mist generated from neat oil and emulsions used in machine tools

(A) Contaminated air from the machine tool enclosure is drawn up by the powerful turbine fan system away from exposing operators at the machine tool environment

(B) Filtered Clean air recycled back to the workshop environment via the efficient 3-layer filter. Our units are also supplied with HEPA filters that ensure the ultimate in healthy environments

(C) The centrifugal action causes the mist to coalesce, and the liquid is returned to the CNC machine. The efficient 3-layer filter make sure no mist particles are returned to the environment.

Installing and Servicing your Clarion Ventilation System LEV

Our Clarion Ventilation System units are supplied with comprehensive yet easy to follow instructions and methods to self-install the unit and keep your unit fully serviced at a low initial cost.

Clarion Ventilation Systems LEVs are designed to sit directly on top of suitable machine enclosures. However, they can be seated adjacent to machines and easily linked to the machine enclosure via flexible piping.

We stock replacement filters for your Clarion Ventilation System LEV unit. The easy-to-follow instruction manual allows you to complete service tasks with ease, saving you money and time to keep your CNC machines productive.

Fully tested robust and reliable 3-layer high efficiency filters are used in our LEVs. The assembly is easy to replace during servicing the LEV unit

HEPA filter cartridge is fitted to the top of the LEV to collect micro mist, smoke and vapor in the exhaust air. This facilitates a high filtration level, removing mist particles down to 0.3µm with 99.97% efficiency
